Exhibition Rules & Regulations

Any person 18 years or older can become a member of the Society upon payment of $10.00 to
the Secretary or Treasurer. All exhibitors must be members of the Riceville Agricultural Society,
except exhibitors in the 18 and under class, 4-H and school children. From all exhibitors
receiving $10.00 or more in prize money, the Treasurer shall deduct $10.00 for the following
year’s membership.

  • Any protest must be handed to the Secretary by 6:00pm on the day of the Fair, with a deposit of $25.00.
  • The directors reserve the right to amend or change the rules in any way they see fit.
  • The Riceville Agricultural Society accepts no responsibility whatsoever, expressed or implied, for any loss, damage or injury to any person or animal on the grounds or in any building.
  • All bovine animals must be tagged with a valid NILD tag, no tagged animals will be removed from the premises.
  • Any animal found to have a contagious disease shall not be allowed to occupy any stall or building or be admitted to the exhibition grounds and if any animal has been admitted through the oversight, suffering from any such disease, the committee shall immediately order its removal from the grounds.
  • Any member interfering with the judges or using insulting language to any of them shall forfeit all prizes that may be coming to him/her.
  • The Society will take reasonable precaution to ensure the safety of all animals or exhibits, yet they wish it distinctly understood that the owners themselves take the risk of exhibiting them.
  • No member is allowed to exhibit more than one article in any class in Section F to M inclusive.
  • All exhibits must be bona fide property of the competitors. All agricultural products must be grown in the present year and grown by the competitor. All residents of one home are allowed to exhibit under the name of one member.
  • Should the day prove unfavourable, the directors shall have the power to deduct a percentage of the prize money should the funds of the Society not be sufficient to meet all payments in full.
  • Any person found exhibiting for a prize, any article or animal that does not belong to him/her, or grain that is not this year’s growth shall forfeit all prizes for the season.
  • The Society will not be responsible for any accidents or injuries incurred on the grounds, to persons or vehicles.
  • The judge is given authority to use their own judgement as to whether an animal is entitled to first, second or third prize when there is only one in a class.
  • All entries must be placed in the Hall before 12:00 noon EST Friday of the fair, and removed starting at 5:00pm on Sunday of the fair.
  • All exhibitors must place their name and address on all entry tickets or no prize money will be awarded.
  • Entries for hall exhibits, cattle classes and horse classes can be done ahead of time via AssistExpo.

Exhibition Hall Drop-Off & Pick Up

The hall will be open for drop offs on Thursday evening between 6:00pm to 8:00pm and Friday morning between 9:00am to 12:00pm to receive exhibits.

The hall will be closed at 12:00pm on Friday for judging and reopen for viewing on Saturday.

The hall will be open for pick up on Sunday between 5:00pm to 6:00pm and Monday between 9:00am to 12:00pm.

It is the exhibitor’s responsibility to ensure that your exhibits are collected. The Riceville Agricultural Society is not responsible for lost articles, although we will do everything in our power to ensure the safety and proper collection of all exhibits. The exhibit hall will be open for viewing on Saturday from 11:00am to 7:00pm, and Sunday from 11:00am to 5:00pm for fair goers.
